BG Chapel Project

In the past year, many things have changed in the local small community of St. Benedict. Evidence of the Church that was once there is nearly gone. Last fall the altars, pews, and statues were removed.  In early March the windows were removed to be fixed and restored. At the end of April, parishioners and community members were allowed to save small tokens of the Church. The building, which stood the testament of time, was torn down in late May.

In all of this sadness, comes a strong hope for the future. As many of you know, Bishop Garrigan has kept many of the items from the Church for use in constructing their new Chapel. In late October, a letter discussing this project was sent to alumni and benefactors of Bishop Garrigan; as a result we are happy to report that in the past few months we have raised close to $240,000 for the Chapel itself and $100,000 for the restoration of 13 stained glass windows from the Church. We are off to a great start, but we are still in need of roughly $160,000 to complete the project. Through the kind generosity of our alumni and supporters, we hope and pray that the project can begin in the Spring of 2019.

We would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to all of the people who have already donated to the Chapel project. Without the support and financial backing of our alumni and benefactors, projects such as this would never happen. For anyone considering a possible donation, we pray that you consider a gift, large or small. This project is one that will benefit students, staff, alumni, and the community alike.
