13 students and 5 teachers began their adventure on Sunday, March 6. They arrived in Okolona, Mississippi on Monday and toured the Excel Learning Center. Tuesday and Wednesday they were in Morton, Mississippi. During this time they toured the Civil Rights Museum, tutored students, organized the We Care Thrift Store, and boxed meals for the food pantry. They also were able to help unload the meals that Bishop Garrigan students had packaged in December. The trip concluded in Forest, Mississippi where they met with Constance Slaughter-Harvey. Constance was the first African American female lawyer to graduate from the University of Mississippi. She spoke to the group about the Civil Rights Movement and current concerns surrounding voter rights.
