Track Project

Track Project Overall Layout Picture

Dear former players, track athletes, and alumni,

It is with great pleasure that I am sending this letter to announce the construction of our newest project for our athletic facilities: a hard-surface synthetic track.  A generous donation was made from a family’s estate toward this project, lighting the fire to make this dream a reality, as one-third of the project cost is in-hand.  A new track has been a long-time dream since taking over the boys’ track program in 1999 and has been for many others as well.

Construction has been underway for approximately four weeks.  The tiling and sub-drainage is almost complete along with the removal of the curbing and excavating of the starting chute at the east end of the straightaway.  Reding’s Gravel and Excavating (Chuck 75’ & John ’06) have been instrumental with their help and design of a facility that will be enjoyed for years to come.  The addition of the track will help all of the athletic programs and will improve the aesthetic value of our facilities tremendously.

The Chapel project fundraising is going well also, and hopefully the Bishop Garrigan family will be able to achieve our goal of seeing completion of this project as well.  Our benefactors and supporters have been very generous in the twenty-six years I have been at Garrigan, and long before. Some of the projects that have been completed since 1992 include the new gym project which has a classroom, development office, and locker rooms. The south parking lot is paved while most of the east parking lot has been blacktopped, the lunchroom has a new walk-in cooler and freezer, the softball field has been updated, new scoreboards in the gyms and on the football field,a new boiler, improved weight room and  classroom computers, new buses, air-conditioning in all classrooms, and an updated  varsity girls’ and boys’ locker rooms.

This letter is to inform everyone of the track project and ask for contributions toward it.  We have already received donations from families and alumni, but are not close enough to finish the project.  If you are interested in contributing to this latest update to the Garrigan campus before the end of the year or after, please contact myself or the development office at Garrigan to make your donation.  Thank you for making Bishop Garrigan a great place to educate young people about their faith-life and their future!

On behalf of the Bishop Garrigan Family,

Marty Wadle
